India

India, is the second-most populous country in the world with over 1.2 billion people. English is used extensively in business and administration and has the status of a “subsidiary official language” it is important in education, especially as a medium of higher education.  India is one of the world’s fastest-growing economies  but struggles with seemingly unyielding poverty, both rural and urban; by religious and caste-related violence. The main languages are English, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Malayalam, Kannada, Oriya, Punjabi, Assamese, Kashmiri, Sindhi, and Sanskrit. The main religions are: Hindu (80%), Muslim (13.4%), Sikh (1.9%), Christians (2.4%, i.e. 2,800,000) and Buddhists (0.8%).

ACBM activities

Started in 1979 and there are now over 70 ecclesias, most with Sunday Schools.  Annual Bible Weeks held in Kolkata, Muzaffarnagar (U.P). Coastal Andhra (Vijayawada), Southern Andhra (Kurnool), Bangalore and Kerala,  End of Year Gathering in Hyderbad (Moinabad)  Central Adminstration Office is in Hyderabad.  Mission residences in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Visakhapatnam, Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram) and Kolkata. . Regular Study Camps are held for contacts in many locations especially in Andhra.  Literature and Bible Courses in Hindi, Telugu, Bangla (Bengali), Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada (Kennerese). Magazines for contacts are published in Telegu, Tamil, Hindi and Kanarese.
