Cambodia

The end of 2011 saw the 2011 Cambodian Bible School go ahead as planned in Phnom Penh. The Lucky Star Hotel played host to over 100 Brothers, Sisters and friends for a week of studies, praise and fellowship. Brother Alan Dennes, Garnet Alchin and John Pople spoke in rotation through Khmer and Vietnamese translators on the subject “Getting Closer to God”.

A talent night provided plenty of opportunities for Brothers and Sisters from different cultures to share and amuse. The spiritual evening and exhortations brought those same cultures together to join in praise of our Father and his gracious son. We celebrated the beginning of a new year watching the fireworks on the river from the top floor of the hotel, wondering what opportunities and challenges we will face in 2012. The school ended with a Breaking of Bread and the departure of our Vietnamese Brothers and Sisters. God willing, the next year will see more joining the saints in South East Asia and more opportunities to meet together.

Malaysia

MALAYSIA – With 9 baptised brothers and sisters, recent efforts in Gospel preaching have produced strong interests with one contact receiving weekly regular tuition in Penang, and four contacts in Kuala Lumpur ready to receive personal tuition. Field trips were made in August 2011 and January 2012 for pastoral care and public seminars.

A new campaign offering Sunday School Correspondence Courses will be advertised soon to offer the Gospel to the young. A mission
centre is being explored in Kuala Lumpur to provide a presence in this main population centre. Brethren and Sister couples interested
in Gospel preaching and medium term (2-3 month) stays to service contacts are encouraged to contact the undersigned.

A Bible School in September 2012 will be held in Penang with participation by brothers and sisters from the Asian regions, and supported by brethren from around the world. Bre Dev Ramcharan, Clem Wigzell and John Pople will lead studies on “The Life of Christ”, “the Resurrection”, and “John’s Creation”. Full programs of studies, public preaching seminars and local tours have been planned for this inaugural School. All interested are encouraged to get in touch with the undersigned.
