God has continued to bless the preaching work in Cambodia over the past year with three new baptisms, bringing the total to 99 Cambodian brothers and sisters. These brothers and sisters are spread through 4 ecclesias across Cambodia. There are 54 brothers and sisters in the Phnom Penh ecclesia (the capital), 17 in the Siem Reap ecclesia, 14 in Kampong Speu and 7 in Sihanoukville.
There are also currently 5 Sunday Schools in Cambodia. One is managed by the Phnom Penh Bible Education Centre (BEC), two are managed from Sihanoukville, one from Kampong Speu and one from Siem Reap. Altogether there are 150 scholars enrolled, with 128 students attending regularly. The biggest of these Sunday Schools is in Kampong Speu which currently has 70 students. One of the Phnom Penh students has recently asked to be baptised.
In December 2016, a Bible School was held in Phnom Penh, with 130 people attending. Local brothers and sisters were involved in teaching and also translating for Western teachers. There were also P2P attendees for two weeks in January this year.
Fieldworkers are always needed to help with the gospel work in Cambodia. The BEC in Phnom Penh provides accommodation for fieldworkers while doubling as a home for memorial meetings, sisters classes and the local Sunday School.
There is also the Bethezer Dormitory, now in its 10th year. It houses 40 students from regional areas across Cambodia who can’t afford rent while studying in Phnom Penh. Bible lessons are taught here on a daily basis, which has resulted in many baptisms including one from this last year.
