As is the case in many of our mission areas the use of teleconferencing applications such as Zoom have provided a lifeline in maintaining our spiritual and fraternal connections across our ecclesial world. It seems that while many of us are in locked down conditions because of the Covid-19 pandemic this form of communication has opened up the physical divisions of distance and national boundaries, and it is so good to see the enthusiasm for seeking one another in this way.

In North India recently, at a combined meeting the speaker was from Fiji and the translator was from New Zealand, spanning some significant times zones. The meeting started with hymn singing in Hindi and closed with the singing of the Fijian Ecclesia, all of which was led by a brother in Kenya with a wonderful sense of enthusiasm. While the Fijian ecclesia had their own Memorial meeting followed by lunch they then held a lecture in their hall where many around Fiji joined them including those from North India with a number of their regular interested friends.

So while the numbers may be few when compared to many other ecclesial environments, one’s and two’s can now come together no longer isolated by the boundaries of time and distance to enjoy all of the things that bring us together as Christadelphians.  The sense of fellowship was so clearly seen with the enthusiastic interaction between all brothers and sisters after these meetings with many in Fiji speaking Hindi, along with a few in Kenya. May we soon receive the Kingdom of God in the hands of our Lord, when all the barriers which limit our open interaction today, will be removed.
