Following our ACBM Fraternal last Saturday night, we would like to follow up with some of the highlights about things that are happening amongst the areas that the South Australian ecclesias support.  We are    always looking for greater involvement and when the current difficulties are past and we can travel again we will be holding a planning day around catching up with those who share our hope in foreign lands.                                                     Bro Craig Hill. Fiji - Youth

Over the last 50 years Fiji has grown from a greenfield preaching effort to providing many serving brethren and wonderful sisters within the West-Pacific ecclesias. Their love of ecclesial family and thirst for knowledge have been a great blessing for our region.

All Fijian brethren, sisters and young people have had many spiritual challenges over the last 12 months arising from the Covid-19 pandemic. The shut downs have caused ecclesial, social and economic hardships resulting from forced isolation right across the Pacific region. However this is magnified when your culture and social background is much more family orientated.

Virtual Links

As always, while meeting this challenge, the resilience of the brethren and sisters was on show and their enthusiasm for embracing new technology to continue their Bible reading classes, to join the memorial meetings and communicate with each other on a virtual basis was an amazing example and blessing.

It was only last year that the Burnside ecclesia had established virtual classrooms to link our Fijian youth in isolation to their own local ecclesial activities as well as to youth activities of the Burnside ecclesia. So the hardware and familiarity was in place pre-pandemic and they fully embraced the opportunity to continue their fellowship and spiritual growth in the current reduced conditions. Recently Zooming in to a Sunday morning Fijian memorial meeting from here in Australia was quite a highlight. The brethren and sisters were full of enthusiasm and we could see their vibrant interaction and family life on display. The “Bula” afterwards was such an outburst of fellowship and joy that we had to take turns, one at a time to join the conversation. So wherever internet connections are available, this technology has opened the horizon for meaningful Bible study and communication from all around the Pacific into Fiji and visa versa.

God willing a group of young people and brethren and sisters will head for Fiji as soon as travel restrictions are lifted and international flights resume, to build stronger links with their youth groups. If you are interested in joining contact Sis Chloe Bailye, Burnside Ecclesia.
