The Philippines

Biennial Family Fraternals:

The Family Fraternal, held every two years in the Philippines, is like a Bible School. It is an excellent opportunity for brothers and sisters with their families from ecclesias scattered throughout the Philippines to come together to enjoy edifying fellowship around the Word of God. The children enjoy Sunday School and other activities.

Given the geographical constraints of the Philippines, two Family Fraternals are planned for late December, God willing. The Mindanao Family Fraternal will be held on 21-24 December for brothers and sisters from central and southern Philippines. The Luzon Family Fraternal will follow from 26-29 December for brothers and sisters from northern Philippines. Bro David Baird will be the guest speaker for both Fraternals on the chosen topic of “As it was in the days of Noah”. These Family Fraternals will be the first face to face Fraternals since 2018.

Luzon CYC Study Weekend (5-7 August 2022):

About 130 young people from Luzon (the main northern island of the Philippines) attended a CYC study weekend at Bugallon Ecclesial Hall. They came from 12 of the Luzon ecclesias, with some travelling more than 12 hours.

The theme was “Waiting for His Return” based on 1 Thessalonians. The studies and meditation talks were led by Filipino young brothers. During the weekend 12 candidates for baptism were interviewed, and baptised during an outing on Saturday afternoon at Lingayen beach. Later a brother and sister, who own a Korean restaurant nearby, hosted all the young people for dinner.

Due to the pandemic, this was the first opportunity for young people from Luzon to meet together face to face since December 2019. It was an enjoyable and spiritually profitable time for all. The CYC study weekend costs (travel and catering etc.) were subsidised by the ACBM.
