Solomon Islands

After being free of COVID-19 for two years, unfortunately in the last few months since January, it was introduced into the Solomon Islands. Many of our brothers and sisters have contracted the virus, but fortunately, none seriously. Because of restrictions in travel imposed by the national government, no one has had the opportunity to travel as fieldworkers for what has now become quite a long period. Throughout this time, the brothers and sisters, both in Honiara and the Fote area, have been active with outdoor preaching, seminars, Sunday School, Bible classes, and caring for one another. Youth conferences have been held in January 2021 and just recently in January 2022. Especially pleasing was the baptism of two of our young people who attended the Conference.

About half of the brothers and sisters live in the capital city ounsubscribe f Honiara on the island of Guadalcanal, and the remaining half live on the island of Malaita where there are two Ecclesias; the main ecclesia at Fote village and the other at Bio village, both on the western side of the island. Two brethren live in isolation on the outer islands of the group. Youth conferences and Bible schools are generally held at Fote village where there are very suitable facilities built by the brethren over the last five years. This is due to the dedication of Bro Chillion Suiti and his family who have provided the land. Facilities include two large accommod-ation blocks, an ecclesial hall which has just been extended, Sunday school rooms, a kitchen and dining area, and very good showers and toilets. This excellent facility includes open spaces for sports for young people. Our brothers and sisters have a very positive spirit and are looking for our return to be with them once again and celebrate all that they have achieved together.
